John H. Dutton, President, Founder and Master Fabricator

In 1971 I launched The Mad Stitchers, specializing in auto and furniture upholstery, and have been totally involved with both ever since. I specialize in bringing antique and classic autos and heirloom furniture pieces from a damaged or dilapidated state back to their original glory. I have had the invaluable help of all four of my children over the years and two are now an integral part of the business.

In my 40 plus years in the industry I have perfected my knowledge of the inner and outer workings of most any type of wood or metal piece. I have encountered both normal and unusual situations involving cars, boats, planes, motorcycles, antique furniture and have used my extensive experience to solve problems for thousands of clients.

My portfolio of custom designs for both auto and furniture will show my ability to apply my knowledge and experience to the design of any piece and to find a solution for most any unusual problem.

My staff and I strive to service each and every client with the highest level of respect and to deliver unmatched quality service.

Cresha Cook, Business Manager

As the oldest of my Dad's four children, I may have been the catalyst for his starting this business (check out the picture of me across his knees at the sewing machine when I was an infant) and all four of us have been involved in the business in some way during our lives. It is truly a family operation and as a full time member of Mad Stitchers staff since 2003, I am dedicated to ensuring that all of our customers are properly informed of our vast array of services and our repair processes. We treat each piece of furniture and vehicle with great care and do everything we can to make sure our customers are satisfied in all ways.

Hunter Dutton, Sale Consultant and Fabricator

I’ve grown up with this business, helping my Dad after school and on weekends and vacations, and am now a full time employee. I have great passion and love for the upholstery craft and great respect for my Dad's expertise and for the things he has taught me over the years. Whether the project requires a custom solution, or just a basic replacement or repair, I enjoy everything about the process. I take a ‘hands-on’ approach to ensure every little detail is perfect, and treat each persons personal property as if it were my own.

Bruce Comstock, Custom Fabricator

At The Mad Stitchers I enjoy working on a wide variety of cars, boats, planes and furniture. Designing solutions or creating new methods to make things work better is my passion. Sharing my ideas with clients and seeing them smile is the ultimate victory for me, and it’s what differentiates The Mad Stitchers from all the other shops.

Michael Harmon, Upholstery Tech

Michael has worked for The Mad Stitchers in all areas of our upholstery shop for 17 loyal year with a short break in between and then recently stepping out on his own to try new avenues to improve himself. He still will help out as work load demands upon request.
